"The FCC Main Air Blower Project had no shortage of drama. Central was the replacement and modernization of the local controls, which had every imaginable rotating equipment control component. Mangan’s solution integrated 7 vendor products into one shelter seamlessly. The finished product was on–time, was very well arranged, and worked the first time."
Project Manager,
West Coast Refinery*
"In my 30 years in the industry, dealing with many contractors, I have never worked with one that thought more like a client than the Mangan staff. Because they have the same perspective that we do, we never have to argue or lecture about scope, schedule or budget issues. They genuinely want the same performance that we do. In fact, they expect more from themselves than we do."
Vice-President of Engineering, East Coast Pipeline Company*
"I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the Mangan project team for the outstanding work on our recent Inline Blending and Control System Upgrade project. The level of effort, commitment, dedication, involvement and focus shown by Mangan throughout was instrumental in the success of the project.
The Mangan staff played a key role throughout the course of the project by leading our blending team, coordinating the efforts between the various contractors, acting as the technical liaison between the Refinery Technical Staff and the Vendor, and making every effort to make technical decisions that were in the best interest of our company.
The project schedule was aggressive. The alternative solutions to meet the project objectives were difficult and challenging. However, with Mangan's expertise, experience, responsible attitude and commitment to meet schedule and budget, we were able to achieve our goals. While the system cutover presented a significant risk to the plant, the planning and execution of these activities exceeded our expectations and helped to attain a successful project."

"Pipelines do 25 things 500 different ways. We want a modular control system that enables us to propagate up to operating practices, so that we can do
25 things 25 ways.
CEO,
Pipeline Company*
"Our batch based control systems and the web based enterprise wide PIMS has enabled us to see all product runs and reduce product variance. Eliminating inconsistent batch timing and other phase parameters has reduced batch production time and associated production costs significantly. In one case we delayed the need for a major plant expansion project because we were producing so much more with the current processing configuration. That certainly justified the Batch Project costs."
Vice President,
National Specialty Chemical Manufacturer*
"We hoped for the level of functionality originally advertised for the mangan TFMS. Our Automation Team conceived of additional opportunities, and the system was easily expanded. We have exceeded our operating and maintenance improvement goals, and have a solid yet highly automated system to roll-out across an additional dozen Tank Farms."
Vice President,
Southeast Pipeline Operations*
"
All of our operators love the new control system. And, we have begun realizing the Automation Project ROI benefits with only the basic process control improvements, increased operating efficiency we had not even counted on!"
Vice-President, Oil & Gas Production Company*
"The Central Control Room development work Mangan provided jumped us forward in our plans and minimized the development costs, and more importantly, the development and implementation risks."
Manager of Capital Projects, Houston Refinery*
"The project schedule was aggressive. The alternative solutions to meet the project objectives were difficult and challenging. However with Mangans expertise, experience, responsible attitude and commitment to meet schedule and budget we were able to achieve our goals. While the system cutover presented a significant risk to the plant, the planning and execution of these activities exceeded our expectations and helped to attain a successful project."

"We dont know how you recruit, but we want to know. How do you get and keep such a strong roster of talent?"
A West Coast Refinery Manager of Projects, lamenting the never ending pursuit of talent all companies face*
"When I told my co-workers that I was leaving to join Mangan, they wanted to know why I wanted to work so hard. I knew then I had made the right choice."

"I joined Mangan shortly after receiving my BSEE and working for a small consulting firm. I was hoping to find a place to work that offered a friendly environment and had a lot of different type of assignments.
For over 10 years now I have had more than I hoped for. I have engineered, designed, tested and started up so many different types of engineered systems. These include: electrical distribution, metering, transfer and shedding systems for entire refineries; distributed control systems for water treatment plants; triple redundant safety systems for critical processes; SCADA systems for pipelines; emissions monitoring systems for smokestacks; and recently a hybrid control system for a large oil production field.
I really enjoy the work, but more, I enjoy the people here. This has always been a company where information is open and freely shared. I have learned from a lot of different people. We have great clients that respect and appreciate us, and aren't shy to tell us where to improve.
Oh, and the pay and benefit package here is very good, what I deserve, if not a little more.
If you are looking for these things, Mangan is a good choice for you."

"Of the many engineering and contracting firms I have worked for, Mangan has afforded me the greatest balance of growth, challenge and fun. During the last six years, I have been provided opportunities ranging from preliminary controls engineering on small projects through total project management on large turnkey implementation projects. The challenges have been many using a multitude of control platforms to meet the needs of the organizations many industries.
Throughout this great variety, I have grown at a rate that would make anyone in the industry envious. Dick Mangan promised me that the company had a history of offering more challenge than even the best could handle. His words were: "I promise you, we will make you say uncle". I countered that for the sake of my family I would not let work become too consuming.
Now I look back at this relentlessly heady mix of challenge and my past promise to meter work to stay in balance, and I wonder. To capture the strange brew of what it is like balancing work that is so rewarding that it can be consuming, with higher priorities at home, I coined what has become the un-official company slogan. You will see it hanging in each of the offices.
'This place is so much fun - I can hardly stand it!'
I am furthermore proud to be a member of the most talented engineering team I have met in my 24 years in the industry. Call if you dare! Youll be guaranteed challenging work with an opportunity to work with the best in the industry but always with a smirk on your face."
